Hi, My name is Greer Rivera.

This blog documents my life as a professional photographer, it includes photos from recent shoots, offers helpful tips for your wedding, island info, as well as my personal and travel imagery.

My business is based on St.John, US Virgin Islands where I spend my winters, and Martha's Vineyard where I grew up and still return for summers.

I believe photography should be natural, classic, clean and simple.  Whether photographing weddings, kids, families, or commercial assignments, I create organic editorial imagery with a genuine life-stylistic approach that is full of energy.

More of my work can be viewed by checking out my website: greerrivera.com

On Monday a dolphin and her calf were in Cruz Bay Harbor and we were fortunate enough to be on the boat and see them.

Matthew was in the water before I was even up on deck, but once I realized what was happening I grabbed my camera and jumped in the dinghy to grab these shots.

Everyone came out to see them!

Matthew and I have been on St.Thomas the last few days getting our sailboat "Basta" ready to come back to St.John! We cleaned and spiffed her all up and sailed her back yesterday. I'm so glad she's finally home!

On our big trip to St.Thomas we stopped by Yacht Haven Grande, if you haven't been you should definitely stop by, it is well worth it. We went in my favorite store Royal Caribbean for all sorts of camera toys for me!

Here's a few I took with my iphone...

We played PacMan (my new favorite game) while we ate pizza

We went shopping at Cost-u-less (it's like a BJ's) and Matthew fell in love...

with a 1/2 keg of heiny!

St.Thomas isn't as bad as everyone says, you just have to know the right spots to go.

I still like living on St.John a lot better though!

Last night Matthew came home from work at 11pm and told me to get ready because we were going to go hike rams head! After he convinced me this was a great idea, we gathered all the essentials including my camera of course and headed out. We got down to salt pond and it was unimaginably bright, it was so peaceful and quiet as we stretched. All these photos were very long exposures, they almost look like it could be daytime!

It was an awesome hike, the whole thing took us about 2 hours. If your visiting St.John soon you should definitely hike rams head, during the day might be better if its your first time! It's on the east side of St.John and the entrance is off of Salt Pond.

Good Luck!

Yesterday I went out with some friends to Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands on my friend Tyler's boat "Cloudbreak", her and her fiance run a charter and sport fishing business out of Cruz Bay.

We had a blast although it was pouring on Jost at first but we avoided it by going to Tortola to check in first.

We had Tyler & Megan's babies with us so we definitely didn't want to get soaked! When we got to Jost we swam in and ate some lunch at soggy dollar bar, we saw a lot of St.Johnians and played the ring & hook game, you'll have to check it out to see what I'm talking about.

On the way over, right after the rain shower.

Megan's son Jackson is 6 months old, he is such a little cutie! Megan and her husband Tim are opening a new restaurant in Wharfside Village which will be open for business February 1st, if your in town you should definitely stop by it's called The Waterfront Bistro and will be french & caribbean cuisine. YUM!

Another cute one of Jackson!

Sebastian & Tyler. Sebastian at 1 is already a little water fanatic, he loves swimming, going underwater, fishing poles (like his dad) and driving us around on the boat!

The very bright sunset on the ride home.

It was a blast, I hope to do it again soon!
