Hi, My name is Greer Rivera.
This blog documents my life as a professional photographer, it includes photos from recent shoots, offers helpful tips for your wedding, island info, as well as my personal and travel imagery. My business is based on St.John, US Virgin Islands where I spend my winters, and Martha's Vineyard where I grew up and still return for summers. I believe photography should be natural, classic, clean and simple. Whether photographing weddings, kids, families, or commercial assignments, I create organic editorial imagery with a genuine life-stylistic approach that is full of energy. More of my work can be viewed by checking out my website: greerrivera.com To view images from your session please visit our Client Proofing section. Feel free to leave a comment, check out the navigation bar at the top that has lots of useful information or use the search bar if your looking for something specific. |

Ashley and Jason were married on Cinnamon Bay on August 12th. I was flattered that they chose me to shoot their wedding since Jason is a photographer as well.
We did three locations, one session at the beginning of the day after the ceremony and one in the early evening. This was so nice, we all had a break and Ashley had a chance to get out of her dress for a while since it was nearly 90 degrees out!
Here are a few of my faves.
The Ceremony.

The Wedding party.

Love, love, love!

I LOVE THIS ONE!

It was a perfect day.

Ashley & Jason-You are a wonderful very fun couple, I hope you keep laughing together as long as you physically can! The reception photos are coming soon!
Pennie and Michael met on St.John so it was only appropriate that they returned to be married last Thursday.
They had the ceremony at the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cruz Bay. Michael and Pennie both had very large families and made for an awesome party! They had a great reception at Beach Villa.
Here's a sneak peek!
Just married!

It was a beautiful wedding with an amazing couple!
Pennie & Michael- I won't wish you luck in your life together because I know you won't need it! Make sure to come back to St.John to visit as often as you can!
Hey Greer - Gorgeous photos! Wow, love the one with the red church door, but I have to say my favs are the ones with the blue boat and blue water - very beautiful colors and natural poses. You captured Pennie and Michael and all their shared smiles so well. I look forward to seeing more!
It was so nice to meet you.

(03.29.09 @ 11:49 PM)Hi Greer! These photos are a VERY exciting sneak peek! I have to agree with Mindy- You captured Mike and Pennie perfectly! I absoluteley love the shot of them cuddling, barefoot sitting on the dock among many others. You have a very talented eye. I am so looking forward to seeing the rest of your work!
(03.29.09 @ 11:48 PM)I met this little cutie, Anna, the other day.
She's four. Right before this picture I asked her what she wanted to be and she declared that she was going to be the first princess of New York City! Then added that she is going to make her future husband Aaron (her best friend) a player for the best baseball team!
She was too cute!
Due to an overwhelming popularity during our first season on St.John, we must raise our prices to be able to sustain the quality of our work and services.
In one week, August 1, new packages and rates will be in effect.
If you have already spoken with me and would like to book before August 1, the current rates will still be in effect.
You may pay a deposit here and download the contract here.
I am having a wonderful summer on the Vineyard and I'm working on a couple of BIG things!
I hoping for them to be ready by August 1 as well.

You are just amazing, Greer. What a website!! I don't know what to say and that is a first!

Everyone is lining up for the famous Greer Rivera.
and I knew you "when".....
If I haven't talked to you lately, I'm finally back from Italy! It was way too much fun and I'm exhausted from traveling and having so many new experiences. I'm starting to get caught up here and really enjoying my summer life on the vineyard. I'll post some portraits soon.
While in Italy Matthew and I visited Limite Sull' Arno, where we stayed in a really nice villa for the week, we did day trips to Pisa, Sienna, went on a full day hike through 5 towns called Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, Florence and Lucca. We then traveled to Venice, Bologna, Rimini, Rome, Chiusi and Montepulciano before heading back to Florence. We traveled mostly by train and had the most romantic, adventurous, spontaneous trip we could have imagined! We literally looked on the map when we were ready to leave somewhere and chose where to go next.
I've been way too busy to sort through the THOUSANDS of photos I have to post any, but for now here's one of Venice (our fave!).

I hope everyone's summer is off to a great start!
I am LOVING the cool New England weather right now!
Awesome ring shot! Love the perspective on the last one too. Beautiful as always. :)
