Hi, My name is Greer Rivera.

This blog documents my life as a professional photographer, it includes photos from recent shoots, offers helpful tips for your wedding, island info, as well as my personal and travel imagery.

My business is based on St.John, US Virgin Islands where I spend my winters, and Martha's Vineyard where I grew up and still return for summers.

I believe photography should be natural, classic, clean and simple.  Whether photographing weddings, kids, families, or commercial assignments, I create organic editorial imagery with a genuine life-stylistic approach that is full of energy.

More of my work can be viewed by checking out my website: greerrivera.com

I just found your blog and I am so excited I did! I love your laid back style and pops of color! As a fairly new wedding photographer, I am always looking to other photographers for inspiration and insight. You have such an awesome site and blog! You can count me as a new blog follower!

On January 30 I went to the Animal Care Center here on St.John because I saw a puppy in town and the owner said there were more at the Animal Care Center.
I fell instantly in love when I saw the four of them in their cage and my heart sunk because I knew I wouldn't be able to take all of them..if any.

I went home that night and talked about the puppies for probably 5 hours!

The next day I returned with my mom and decided to try out a puppy for a week trial. She was the smallest one and just as feisty as her brother and sisters. It was heartbreaking taking her away from her siblings and mom but I know she will be happier.
Matthew was pretty shocked when I arrived home with a puppy in hand, but fell in love pretty quick! That night we both decided we could not bring her back and had to keep her!

Introducing our new puppy, Lucca! We named her after a town in Italy that we visited this June.

I love this one!

Jessica and Dan came from Cambridge, MA for their Wedding and chose to have it at The Caneel Bay Resort. I'm so glad they found me and asked me to photograph their day. I had a great time getting to know them and their families.

I loved Jessica's dress!

Jessica and Dan opted to see each other before the ceremony which is so great because it gives me way more time to photograph both of them together and makes for a more relaxed ceremony.

We made our way down to Turtle Bay which is very small and private, perfect for wedding day photos!
I love this one!

One might think that seeing each other before the ceremony ruins the whole "seeing her come down the aisle" expression and moment for the groom, but this photo proves otherwise.

A moment right before Cocktail hour.

One last one of the yummy food at Caneel! Vera and the whole staff were very accommodating.

Jessica and Dan-I hope to see you back for your anniversary! You and your families were awesome, I can't wait to design your album with the "photobooth" pages!

I loved soo many photos from this fun engagement session with Staci and Dan! I had to limit myself just because it's so time consuming but I know that Staci is dying to see them so here is a little sneak peek!

Staci & Dan-I had such a good time laughing with you guys! I hope you have a wonderful vacation on St.John and come back to visit soon.

I am very proud to announce my newest arrival to my very full gear bag, I have wanted the newest camera in the line of Canon camera's since before it came out...when it was just a rumor, a myth.

I fantasized about a 21 megapixel camera that could also shoot 1080 movie in HD. Now that I have it I talk about it to everyone just like it's my first born.
I picked this baby up last week on St.Thomas, it was the last one (or so they told me). I also got a sweeet lens, the 100mm macro, which I used for the ring shot in the post below.
I have always loved macro photography and could never seem to get close enough with my previous lenses.
